Michael's Wedding

My little brother got married last weekend!
We were lucky enough to be able to go.

We left Wednesday evening from Madison so that we could have the direct flight.
That made all the difference.
The flight was just under 3 hours and Jacob did fabulous.
After our Christmas trip I didn't think we would fly with him ever again but he proved us wrong.
I spent the week before researching the best toys to keep him entertained.
We made sure to walk him a lot before we boarded and we were the very last ones on the plane.
Then we quickly handed out some candy bars for the "lucky" passengers that had to sit by us.
After take off I busted into my bag of tricks.
I made these touch and feel cards, brought a tube of pipe cleaners, a box of band-aids, finger puppets and a new dollar store toy.
He loved the pipe cleaners.
For probably an hour he just laid on my lap and held them by the tips in a pincer grasp, put them in and out of the tube, and took the lid on and off.
He always liked putting stuff inside an empty drink cup.
I didn't even use half of the stuff I brought on that flight!

We landed in Utah and made a quick stop at the airport Cafe Rio of course.
Jake was awesome considering he was awake for 4 hours past his usual bed time.
We crashed as soon as we got to Ryan's parent's home.

The next day we hung out with the Calders.
That afternoon we went to the temple so my brother's fiance could receive her endowments.
That was the first time we got to meet her and she is darling.
We went out to dinner with everyone that night.
A big thanks to the Calders for being our babysitters!

Friday we went walking up the canyon and I got a massage for Mother's Day.
In the afternoon we played basketball with some of my cousins.
That night we had a BBQ with Ryan's family and one of his friends from high school.

Saturday was the big day.
We headed to the Salt Lake Temple for the sealing.
It was so nice to go to a live sealing.
I hadn't been to one since my own sealing almost 5 years ago.

After the ceremony we had hour to kill so we check out the new City Creek Mall and then headed over the luncheon at the Lion House.
It was so fun to hear all the stories people shared about Michael and Dani.
We sat at a table with some of their friends and I wish I could steal them all and bring them to Wisconsin!
We had so much fun with them!

When we finished up there we headed down to the reception location to help set up.
Since it was right by our old house in Riverton we had to stop by and see the house.
I'm surprised I remember how to get there 12 years later!
Especially since half of Riverton didn't even exist when we live there.
I couldn't believe how much everything had changed.

We spent the next 6 hours setting up, having the reception, and then cleaning up.
It was great to get to know Dani's family better and to hang out with our new friends.
Ryan's parents brought Jake up for an hour so he could be in some of the pictures.
As you can tell he wasn't exactly thrilled to be there.
I had to bribe him with Cheerios in between each picture!

Sunday we had a Mother's Day breakfast with Ryan's family and then packed to head home.
Jake did pretty good on the return flight.
He was as good as the first flight but he was still awesome.

We are so glad we were able to make it out there for the wedding but the weekend went too fast.
We came home exhausted!
Next time we'll have to stay longer (or at least Jacob and I will)!
