Attempt #2 at Naperville

So almost two months ago we had planned to go and visit the family I used to nanny for just outside Chicago.
Well the day we were supposed to leave Jake (and then Ryan) came down with the stomach flu...
Again!
So the trip was cancelled and I was way disappointed.
It had been almost a year since I had seen them and I had been looking forward to it for weeks.

Well we were finally able to reschedule and we headed down there the first weekend in May.
Jake was predictable as always and dirtied his diaper 20 minutes into the trip.
So after that stop and fighting through Chicago traffic we made it there in time for dinner.
The cute kids were watching through the front window and came running out as soon as we pulled in.
I couldn't believe how big they had gotten!
They were so cute playing with Jacob and they had to show him all their toys.
Jake was in heaven!
He loved having new people to watch and new places to explore.

On Saturday we went to the park near their home and to the Morton Arboretum.
This place was huge!
They had this amazing children's area with playgrounds, mazes, rope bridges, and stepping stones.
Of course Jake had to walk around and explore like the big kids.

That night we tried their favorite place for Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati's.
We have loved Giordano's but it was fun to try a new place.
We loved Lou Malnati's butter crust (oh so sinful!) but Giordano's has a better sauce.
So since I'm all about the bread I would probably pick Lou Malnati's in the future.

The trip was short and sweet but we had a great time and hopefully we'll be able to see them before another year goes by!
Thanks for hosting us!
