New Calling

Yesterday Ryan got a new calling in church. He is now the Elder's Quorum President. He is worried about it but I know he will do great. We are both sad to be leaving Scouts. I never thought that I would say that but I actually liked Scouts. I know Ryan is going to miss it to he was just getting in to it and enjoyed camping more regularly. I know I am going to miss teaching Primary with him, but this will be a good growing experience for us.

Washington DC

On our last week of summer my grandma paid for my family to fly to Washington DC to see the Glenn Beck "Return to Honor" rally. The first day in DC we went to Mount Vernon (George Washington's home) and Gettysburg.

The next day we went to the Washington Monument, toured the White House and the Capital Building, and then we also went to the Library of Congress. After that we drove across the river to Arlington National Cemetery. It was amazing to be there and see all the grave markers and remember the sacrifice so many have made for our country. We also got to see the changing of the guard at the tomb on the unknown solider. That night we went to Alexandria. I absolutely LOVED this town. It is very historic and charming. While we were there we went on a ghost tour where we heard ghost stories at their location. It was a blast!

On Friday we went to the Washington DC temple. The temple is beautiful! After the temple we headed into the city and went to the Holocaust museum. It was huge. I was amazed at how many people and places were affected by this event. Later that afternoon we went to the National Museum of Crime and Punishment. That was so much fun. It had all my CSI stuff. We got to solve a crime, crack a safe, be in a line up, and do some police simulations which included pulling someone over and a gun simulation.

On the last day we went to the rally. It was so HOT and there were so many people but it was fun to be apart of it. We had a great trip!

Temple Fork Sawmill

On our last Monday on summer Ryan and I drove up Logan Canyon and then hiked to the sight of the temple fork sawmill. The hike was 6.4 miles round trip and it was so beautiful.
