My baby turned 4 months this week.
Time is FLYING by!
He also had his 4 month checkup.
He is looking good but had to get shots.
Seriously I hate this sooo much.
My stomach was in knots all morning.
Nothing breaks my heart more than that look of "How could you let this happen?"
Thankfully the side effects weren't as bad this time around.
His legs were sore that afternoon but after a little Tylenol he was back to his energizer bunny leg kicks.
The stats:
Height: 26 inches (85th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs 5 oz (85th percentile)
Head Circumference: 44 cm (97th percentile)
Seriously this kid's head is huge.
I base when to move to the next size clothes when I can no longer get shirts over his head.
Sleep
We hit a rough patch with sleep this past month.
He started waking up again in the middle of the night.
I figured it was due to the fussy period for the Week 19
wonder week .
So for a couple weeks I got up to feed him in case it was a growth spurt.
However, after about a week of that he wasn't eating very much the following morning so I stopped getting up with him and just let him put himself back to sleep.
That worked like a charm and we are back to 11-12 hours at night.
We also dropped a nap this month.
I knew it was time because his last nap was so short and was starting at like 5:30 which meant his bed time was getting pushed to 8 pm.
So now 3 naps a day and they are at least 1 hour long but most are 1.5-2 hours and bedtime is back around 7 pm.
We are down to just one arm being swaddle.
He usually wiggles it out but like to start with it in the swaddle.
Feeding
Since we dropped the nap and he is sleeping through the night we are averaging 5 feeds (2.5-3.5 hours apart) during the day.
We haven't started solids
Not because Jake isn't interested but because I like the convience of not having to bring food with us.
I'll probably start sometime this month though.
Playing
We have also increased his wake time to somewhere between 60-90 minutes.
It usually increases throughout the day.
He is also getting so playful.
He loves when you try to "bite" his hand.
He will laugh and pull it away from you.
I finally got him to laugh at me but he is still very selective about what he finds funny.
He makes a HUGE mess splashing in his tub.
Seriously I feel like I'm the one getting a bath.
He loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider song.
It will make him stop crying and immediately smile.
He also enjoys Pat-a-cake.
He has a lot more control of his hands and arms.
Anything within reach is in his hand and put in his mouth.
He is really starting to like being on his tummy more.
He still isn't rolling over but has gotten pretty close rocking onto his side.
He will also pull his legs underneath him but mostly moves in a circle or backwards.
He also like to bury his head until I ask "Where's Jacob?" then he'll lift his head and smile at me.
He loves to gurgle and is quite loud.
We've had to take him out of church a few times because he is so enthusiastic.
We also tried the exersaucer.
He seems unsure if he likes it or not.
Currently he only likes it for about 5 minutes.
This and That
We up-graded him to the convertible carseat in hopes that it would decrease his dislike for it.
It seems to have worked pretty well.
He hates being put in it but once he is in and we're driving he is fine.
He loves watching us eat and smiles every time we put something in our mouths.
He loves laying outside and watching the leaves rustle on the trees.
He has the head control to sit up but not the core strength.
Jacob, I love you so much.
You are such a joy to have around the house with me.
I love that you smile when you see me face and are filled with pleasure when I play with you.
You are so easy going and I'm blessed to be your mom!
