JLC :: 7 & 8 Months

Sleeping
Jaylee is finally sleeping through the night!!!
Ryan started getting up with her and he would just give her a hug and lay her back down.
Then in about 30 minutes or less she would be back to sleep.
After a week or two of that she stopped waking up.
Now she is sleeping 12-13 hours every night!

Jaylee is mostly down to two naps a day at this point.
Her naps are 1-2 hours long and she is awake 2 hours between naps.

Feeding
With the drop to two naps we also dropped down to four nursing sessions a day.
I have added a bottle at her bedtime feeding.
She usually drinks an extra 2-3 oz.

She is eating solids and three meals and usually a snack in the afternoon.
She gets spoon fed stuff first and then finger foods until she is full.
She can pretty much eat any food now.
She does great with small pieces of any food soft enough for her to gum (cooked vegetables, fruit, cheese, breads, noodles, and meat)

Playing
Jaylee is a crawling machine!!
By 7 months she was army crawling and now she is up on all fours.
She can get anywhere she wants and has started to pull herself up on furniture or stairs.
She loves to crawl around and explore the basement.
If she is upstairs she will always head straight for the stairs so we've had to really watch her.

She is sitting by herself and can get from laying to sitting and vice versa unassisted.

She got her top two teeth this month.

She loves to kick, splash, and roll in the bath.

She has a little diamond shaped pillow that is her favorite toy right now.
She will bring it with her everywhere.
She also is attached to her taggie.
If we go somewhere new or for a longer car drive it really helps if she has it with her.

She loves to play pat-a-cake!

She is definitely a mama's girl.
If she sees me while anyone else is holding her she loses it.

Her siblings still love to hold her and now play with her.
Now that she can crawl she will chase them around and try to steal what they are playing with.

We love this energetic happy baby!

JLC:: 6 Months

Stats from Checkup
Weight: 17lbs 9oz (76th Percentile)
Height: 26" (55th Percentile)
Head Circumference: 17" (77th Percentile)

Sleeping
We are starting to see some more progress in this department!!
In the past week she has only woken up 2 nights to eat.
Although before that she was waking up once every night to eat.

Most days Jaylee takes three naps.
Usually one is about 1.5 -2 hours and the rest are shorten 1-1.5 hours.
She falls asleep by herself without a problem most of the time.

She loves to sleep on her tummy and rolls over as soon as you lay her in the crib.

Feeding
Jaylee is still nursing 6 times a day (except for the few days that she slept through the night).
She is doing solids for lunch and dinner and eats about 2 Tbls.
This month we added: applesauce, banana, avocado, prunes, oatmeal, and mums crackers.
Her favorites are carrots and ripe bananas.

She started a sippy cup but still needs a lot of assistance.

Playing
Jaylee has gotten her bottom two teeth.
I love her toothy grin!

She is a rolling machine and is constantly flipping from back to stomach.

She has added a "haa" sound to her babbling.

She has the sweetest giggle!

She loves her indestructible books.

She is so playful and loves to look away and have you ask her to look at you.
She'll hold out for a long time, smiling, until she finally looks up with a huge grin.

Jaylee is starting to get more playful so her siblings are engaging more.
They enjoy holding her, reading her books, and playing next to her on the floor.

JLC :: 5 Months

Sleeping
Jaylee is doing much better in the sleeping department this month.
We had a couple nights where she put herself back to sleep without eating.
Most nights she is still waking up once though.

We've settled in to a better nap routine too.
We've extended the wake time that really seems to be helping.
She is awake for 1 hour and 15 minutes before her first nap and then 1.5-2 hours in between her next two naps.
She naps three times a day.
At least one nap is about 2 hours.
The other ones are closer to an hour.

We had a rough period where she would roll to her belly but forgot how to roll onto her back again.
After a few nights she just got used to sleeping on her belly.
So now once she rolls over she'll finish the rest of that sleep period on her tummy.

Feeding
She is nursing 6 times a day.
I've had to shorten her night feed to only 3 minutes so that she will eat the rest of the day.
I nurse her every 3-3.5 hours.

We added solid foods this month.
So far we've tried carrot, peas, green beans, peaches and pears.
She loves carrots!
She does pretty good but usually only eats about 1 TBS.
I feed them to her at dinner.

Playing
We added the jumperoo and the exersaucer this month.
She enjoys a chance to be upright but does tire quickly.

She loves to roll so she usually plays on her tummy.

She loves people!
Anytime someone makes eye contact with her she gets a big smile.
She gets so distracted while nursing if anyone comes into the room.

She is usually very content and only gets fussy when naptime is approaching.

She discovered her toes and is always trying to suck on them.

Summer Wrap Up

We tried to squeeze in as much summer fun as we could in August.

Ryan took the kids to the Springville Reservoir with his family.
The kids had a great time riding in kayaks and playing on the beach.

We did some drives and a couple hikes.

And we crashed the Calders camping trip.
We didn't spend the night but the kids loved floating the river and roasting hotdogs and smores.

We also went to the American Fork Pool a couple of times.
It was great to be out in the sun and to give the kids a chance to practice swimming.

JLC:: 4 Months

Stats from Checkup
Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz (71st Percentile)
Height: 25.25" (85th Percentile)
Head Circumference: 16.5" (87th Percentile)

Sleeping
We've had a rough go in the sleeping department lately.
She is back to waking up 2 (sometimes 3) times every night.
She hasn't been doing her usual 2 hour nap once a day and all of them have only been about 45 minutes.
I'm hoping we work through this wonder week soon!

She officially dropped the swaddle and moved her to a traditional sleep sack.

Feeding
She is still eating well but has increased to 7-8 times a day with the night wakings.
She eats quickly and every 2.5-3 hours.
Playing
Jaylee is rolling!!
She rolled from belly to back about a week ago.
She is so close to rolling the other way too.
She gets onto her side but then stops.
She has been twisting all around do this.

She is great at grabbing toys, bringing them to her mouth, and moving them from hand to hand.
She has found her feet and likes to pull her socks off.
She loves to chew on things and if it is withing reach it goes in the mouth.
