JPC:: 10 and 11 Months

Wow, time flies!
I mean 11 months is almost a year old and I can't believe my baby is going to be one!
Jake is getting so big and I feel like he is less like a baby and more like a kid.

His 9 month checkup was at 9.5 months this time around so here are his stats.
Weight:  19 lbs 0.4 oz (32 percentile) - The stomach flu contributed to this low number
Height: 29.5" (81 percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.7" (96 percentile)

Sleeping
Nothing really new here other than he protested naps for a couple weeks.
That was a lot of fun for everyone... NOT!
Thankfully he worked himself out of it and is back to normal 1.5 hour naps twice a day.

Feeding
He is still obsessed with feeding himself.
He shovels food into his mouth so fast.
One funny thing is he always keeps a piece of food in one hand and doesn't eat it until all the other food on his tray is gone.
He has now tried egg white, roast beef, strawberries, blueberries, spinach, yogurt, black beans, olives, peanut butter, quesadillas and wheat bread.
He doesn't like yogurt yet but I'm thinking of putting it into a smoothie and maybe then he'll like it.

Playing
Still no crawling.
I have started to push him a little bit more on this.
I'm not one to push him to reach milestones but I feel like at almost a year it is time to step in a little bit.
I've been spending some of playtime propping him up on his knees so he can get used to that feeling.
I've also tried supporting his belly with a towel to let him practice walking with his hands.
We haven't seen any huge improvements but I am noticing that he is more willing to try to move in different ways.

He LOVES to walk around holding onto our fingers.
We spend basically all three hours of church letting him walk the halls.
At our house he loves to walk around the loop on our main level but always in the same direction.
If we try to get him to walk the other way he turns himself around and walks the direction he likes.
We got a package with bubble wrap this month and he loves to walk around on it.

We finally ditched the baby tub.
I wasn't really sad about it I just miss the convenience of being able to stand and bathe him instead of leaning over into a normal tub.

He loves to play with his toothbrush,
to play on our bed watching the ceiling fan,
to take things out of boxes,
and to clap his hands.
Seriously he claps after he does anything.
Its pretty cute.

He used to wave and he loved waving to me especially while he was eating but he has forgotten how.
Maybe that will return at some point.

He finally started "jumping" in his jumper.
Before he would just spin himself around.

He says "nanana" in the most annoying, loud, high pitched voice when he is upset or doesn't like what is happening.
He also makes the saddest "sad face" I have ever since.
This boy is full of histrionics.

Both of his upper lateral teeth have broken through his gums a little bit and one of his bottom laterals has.
His second bottom lateral tooth is close because I can see the bulge.

He is still in 9-12 month clothes but I think he is really close to switching to 12-18 month.
Hopefully his 9-12 will last for the rest of winter.

He sure is a sweetheart.
I love that I get hugs, kisses and smiles from him everyday!

Going Down Under

Ryan got to go on a "business trip" to Australia last week.
Okay so it really was a business trip but that doesn't mean I can't be jealous right?
I mean what sounds better February in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin or February (summer) in Australia?
Yeah I'd pick Australia every time.
Even if I have to take a 14 hour flight.
You heard me right, 14 hours and that is just from LA.
He spent a week in Australia meeting some of their customers and trying to solve some of their design problems.
He did get to spend one Saturday there to sight see and he was able to go to the Sydney temple.
It looks like he had a great time when he actually got to leave the office.

Maybe the next time he has to make client visits I'll be able to go with!

While Ryan was "down under" I stayed with my parents in Indiana.
It was great to see them and to get some help with Jacob.
I even got to go to the Louisville temple and spent 8 hours away from Jake.
That is the longest I have been away from him since he was born.

Grandpa really spoiled Jake while I was gone!

We both had a pretty good week but it is great to be together again!
