July in Photos

Fourth of July
Ryan and I went to see Milwaukee's fireworks on July 3rd.
This was the best firework show I've ever seen!
It was an hour long and we had a great time with some friends from Ryan's work.
I know this isn't the best photo (dang iPhone) but the views were amazing with the skyline, lake and fireworks.  Maybe next year we'll brave the crowds and parking and watch from downtown.
Ryan let me sleep in (I have the best husband!)
and he took Jake to the local parade.
He said Jake had a great time and actually watched most of it!
After Jake's nap we headed out to lunch.
We decided to try Ferch's which is a local 1950s themed diner.
The food was delicious!
After lunch we headed to the Botanical Gardens.
They were beautiful and Jake loves walking around on all the paths.

Ryan's Birthday
Since we decided to get him a grill for Father's Day and his birthday gift he didn't have anything to open.
So I decided to surprise him with a fancy night out downtown on his birthday (on a Tuesday).
We tried Carnevor which is a stake house.
The stake was absolutely incredible!
I was too busy enjoying our date I forgot to snap a picture but we had fun!

Family Pool Day
We headed to the local pool one Saturday.
Jake loves the water and it was so cute to watch him and Ryan swim around.

Driving Range
The Elder's quorum and High Priest group in our ward planned a golfing activity that Ryan was planning on going to but it has been like 3 years since Ryan last went golfing so he wanted to practice before hand.
So the night before we went to the driving range.
Jake loved playing with the golf balls!

JPC:: 15 Months

Time flies!
I feel like I just wrote one of these for 14 months and it is already time for another one.
I can't believe how much Jake has changed this month!

Stats from 15 Month Checkup
Weight: 23 lbs. 8.5 oz (61st Percentile)
Height: 32 inches (79th Percentile)
Head Circumference:  19.5 inches (98th Percentile)

The poor kid had to get 3 shots but he was able to calm down a lot sooner afterwards than at previous appointments.

Playing
Jake's walking has gotten a lot more steady so we don't have to follow him around any more (yippee!)
He still needs some supervision on uneven surfaces outside.

He can sit back down from standing if he has something to hold on to.

He is making more of an effort to try to put puzzle pieces back into the puzzle once he takes them out.
If I line the piece up just out of the spot he can slide it in.

He is making more of an effort to communicate.
We will now consistently sign "milk" and when he shakes it head it actually means "no"
He can make the spider action from the song "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and now requests that song constantly!
He also starting making animal sounds for a cow and a dog when asked (most of the time).

He is still obsessed with water so we've included it in a lot of our activities.

Sleeping
Nighttime sleep is still awesome.
We officially dropped to one nap.
At first it was at about 10:30 but now it's close to 11:30.
He sleeps for 2-3 hours.

Feeding
Not really any change here.
He is starting to have more of an opinion about what he wants to eat but overall he is still a pretty good eater.

We love you Jacob!

Summer Adventures

Yes I've slacked off in documenting our summer!
Since I'm so behind I'm just going to do one mega post of all our adventures.

Madison
In the middle of May Ryan was going back to Madison for the annual review that his research group puts on every year.
It was a quick trip (2 days) but we had a lot of fun.
Jake and I decided to tag along and catch up with some of our friends.
During the days Jake and I had picnics with friends, enjoyed the hotel pool, and hit up the Madison zoo.
We also made sure to stop for dinner at the Great Dane.

One of Ryan's friends wasn't coming in until later in the week though so we drove back Saturday to have breakfast at Mickey's.
On the plus side that meant we also got to go to the farmer's market!
Jake wasn't a fan of all the crowds so we mostly just hung out in the grass by the capital after we'd gotten some cheese bread and jalapeno jelly.

Beach
We took Jake to the beach for the first time and this kid is a fish!
He did not want to come out the of water and had no fear in the water.
I don't know how he had fun since the water was freezing but he loved every minute of it.

Graduation
The first weekend in June I headed down to Indiana for my sister's high school graduation.
She did a great job on her speech as a student body officer.
We spent the rest of the weekend shopping, doing yoga, and laying out by the pool!

Ryan stayed home with Jake and they had a fun boys weekend.
They worked on walking and spent some time at the park.
Ryan even braved church by himself and still taught his Sunday School lesson!
Jake is such a daddy's boy!

Aunt Jenna's Visit
In June my parents were going to youth conference for the weekend and since my sister had that same time off work she came up for a visit.
It was so much fun to have her here.
We explored down town, went to the Safe House for dinner, played wii, had a picnic at the beach, and she introduced us to the show "Chuck".

Grandma's Visit
Just a couple weeks later my mom came up for a visit.
She heard Jake was starting to walk and didn't want to miss out on that milestone.
We spent a lot of time enjoy the beautiful weather on walks, at the park and we even went down town for summer fest.

She even babysat for us so we could go to the temple and she hemmed some curtains for me!

We've had a great summer and can't wait to see what the rest of the summer will bring!
