Lately, for some reason, it is impossible for me to create a blog post in the same month that an event happened. So welcome to Christmas Eve on January 19th!
I must say that our Christmas Eve started off a little unorthodox. We headed to the airport to fly to Utah. We basically spent the whole day traveling and arrived in Utah around 4:30 pm. Since we were already in Salt Lake Ryan's parents were kind enough to take us to temple square to see the lights. I love the lights at temple square. They are always so beautiful, classy, and traditional none of light up moving signs which seem to be plaguing Christmas.
Now that it finally felt like Christmas Eve we headed to Springville where we got to enjoy homemade Cafe Rio salads (another thing we'd been missing in Wisconsin). After dinner we spent the night hanging out with family. We also opened the traditional Christmas Eve pj's with a little twist this year. (Background info: the youngest siblings in Ryan's family are twins named Bailey and Bridget and they hate being teased about it) So we gathered around and started opening them youngest to oldest. Bridget was first and she thought she had picked hers out so while she is opening them she is talking about how she already knows what they are. However, much to her surprise when she finally opens them they aren't the ones she picked out. You could tell she was disappointed but she remained pretty positive. Bailey was next to open his and he barely opened the box when he started freaking out. He was so mad because his were the exact same as Bridget's. He thought that his mom got them matching pj's, but as he soon found out everyone got the same pair!
It was so fun to see everyone all dressed up the same. After that we had dessert and then the Christmas story. That night we were up until almost 1:30 am which gave us a wonderful 3 1/2 hours of sleep until we were woken up to open presents!
