Winter Adventures

We definitely tried to avoid getting the winter blues this year.
This was definitely because I have a energetic toddler who needed to get out of the house.
So prepare for a photo dump of our winter adventures.
(Sorry I'm behind in blogging and I'm just trying to get things recorded quickly!)

Of course we watched the Super Bowl and helped cheer the Patriots on to victory.
Ryan still talks about "The Interception" and has suggested we name the new baby Malcolm Butler Calder in honor of that amazing play.
Since that Sunday happened to have a blizzard we were able to stay in all day and ensure that we brain washed our son in Patriots gear.

The head band was all Jake's idea.  He is very into accessories!
Speaking of Jake's fashion he has insisted on picking his own clothes now.
We wear a lot of sweat pants, hats, headbands, and necklaces in all varieties of color schemes.
I'm not joking the only time he takes his hat off is to eat, sleep or go to church.
(Or if one of his necklaces falls off and he needs to put it back on)

Ryan and I were able to go and visit our friends the Condies in Dallas at the end of February.
My wonderful parents came up and spent the weekend with Jake so we got a child free vacation before the new baby comes.
We had a great time enjoying the weather, eating, playing golf, eating, playing glow in the dark mini golf, eating some more, and catching up.
We are so lucky to have such amazing friends and we must have been having a great time because I don't have a single picture from the whole trip!
Jake had a great time with Nana and Papa and learned three new words (Baby, cracker, and please)
He also had quite the meltdown when it was time for Nana and Papa to go home!

Ryan's parents and the twins came to visit at the middle of March.
I guess they were just really jealous that we were actually having a winter!
We had so much fun having them here.
We toured the Jelly Belly Factory, went to the Domes, and enjoyed spending time with family.
Bailey and Ralph were sick the whole time and Bailey had a pretty bad cough.
So now whenever you ask Jake what Bailey says he coughs.
He will also tell you that Bailey is gross because they tried to keep themselves away from Jake so he didn't get sick!

Jake and I also took a trip to the Children's Museum with some friends from the ward.
Jake absolutely loves it there and had a great time.

He also braved going down the slide by himself which is a big feat for my very cautious son!

And lastly in the middle of March my Aunt, Uncle and cousins came to visit my parents in Indiana.
Thankfully they were willing to take a day trip to Chicago and we were able to meet them there.
We went to the aquarium and then had pizza before heading home so Jake could nap.

How Many Boys Are We Going To Have?

So I've been a real slacker about updating the blog lately!
So I made myself buckle down today and at least start the huge task.

On February 11th we had our very exciting ultrasound and found out we are having another boy!
I am so excited to have another little guy running around and for Jake to have a play mate.
This ultrasound was awesome because the clinic I'm at sends you to the hospital and has a perinatologist perform the ultrasound which means you don't need a full bladder.
Seriously it was so nice to just relax without feeling like I was going to explode after drinking 32 oz of water in an hour!
The baby looks healthy and is still measuring right on schedule.
It was wonderful to have Ryan and Jake come along.
Anytime the doctor switched screens Jake would say "uh-oh" because he couldn't see the baby for like one second.

I don't feel like this pregnancy has been very different from the first one
But then again I can't remember much either.
From what I do remember this little guy seems to move a lot more and my back pain/sciatica started earlier.
Other than that I still had all the same symptoms: nausea, fatigue, stuffy nose, bloody noses, leg cramps, heartburn, etc.
I'm pretty much like a textbook case of all pregnancy symptoms.

I don't think Jake really understands what is happening but if you ask him where the baby is he will point to my stomach.
He seems to realize something is different though because he has been a lot more clingy and asks to be carried around (which my back loves... not!).
My favorite thing though is if you ask him how many boys we are going to have he responds with a enthusiastic "two!"

We are so excited for this new edition to our family!!!!
