Papa Comes to Town

My dad knew he was going to have a slower week at work so he squeezed in a quick trip to Utah for his birthday.

We loved having him around!
The boys beat him up and spent most of the time tackling and wrestling him.

He was a trooper to put up with their nonstop energy and we loved having him here!
Thanks for celebrating your birthday with us!

JPC:: 4 Years

This is just a little update on Jake at 4 years old.

Stats from Checkup:
Height:  40.5 inches (61st Percentile)
Weight: 35.5 lbs (50th Percentile)

Jake loves to talk.
We've reached the endless questions phase.
After everything I say he always says, "how come?"
He still loves to sing and I'm so impressed with how fast he learns the songs in primary each week.
He will sing nonstop in the car some times.

Jake now enjoys playing with friends.
He loves playing with the neighbor kids and is asking if we can invite friends over.
He plays awesome with Logan and they both have gotten really good at sharing.

He loves to be outside.
He likes to dig in the dirt, help me weed, play at the park, and go on "speedy rides" on the hippo ride on toy.
He also enjoys bubbles and chalk.
This year he also found that sprinklers can actually be fun!

He loves to work on projects.
From helping around the house, working with tools with dad, or art projects.
He asks for me to print him worksheets daily.
He is amazing at helping to pack.
I can give him a list of things to go get and he'll bring them all in and put them in the bag.
He is creative and loves to glue, color, and make cards.

Jake stopped napping around 3.5 years old when he stopped sucking his thumb.
I was so impressed he just stopped cold turkey after I explained that sucking his thumb pushes his teeth out.
He gets pretty tired in the late afternoons and evenings (emotional) but then falls right to sleep at bedtime.

He has started to become more picky at mealtime.
Meals he used to love are now "disgusting"
He is still pretty good though about eating fruits and vegetables so maybe its just my cooking... haha

Jake is an amazing big brother.
He is so willing to help Logan and is usually really good about playing with him.
They love to wrestle together.
They both insist on giving each other a big hug before nap and bedtime.

I love watching Jake learn and grow!
He impresses me everyday with some new skill or his incredible memory!

Jacob Turns Four!

It is crazy to think that Jake has been part of our family for four years!
We have loved being his parents and his birthday was no exception.
Ryan took the day off which Jake was thrilled about.
He got his truck that he had been wanting for months.
When he came downstairs and saw it he kept saying, "this is my whole life!"

The birthday boy requested muffins for breakfast and then we hit the open road.
He drove that truck all over the neighborhood for about an hour.

After that he wanted to try out his new swimsuit so we went to the Provo rec center to swim.
Jake had a blast but Logan thought it was too cold and wet.
That night we had "j" shaped pizza and strawberry shortcake.

On Friday night we invited the Calders and Jenna (as requested) over for waffles and dirt cups.
Jake picked out balloon themed place settings and wrapping paper.
His only disappointment was that they didn't have a balloon with a picture of a balloon on it.

Happy Birthday Jacob!
Thanks for bringing so much happiness to our lives and for making us parents four years ago!

Easter 2017

This was the first Easter in about five years that we got to spend with the Calder's.
It was wonderful to have perfect weather!
We did Easter baskets that morning, went to church, and then headed to the Calder's for Easter dinner and egg hunt.
The boys loved hunting for eggs.
Logan ran around trying to put as many eggs as he could in his basket in the fastest time.
Jake made sure to open each egg as he found it and eat whatever was inside.
