4th of July Vacation

We got to go to Utah for the 4th of July.
Ryan was able to get work off and we couldn't wait for Ryan's siblings to meet Jacob.
Now for the 3 weeks prior to the trip Jake was having a rough time.
He refused to sleep unless he was swaddled and in his crib.
He would just scream and scream for hours.
Needless to say I was stressed!
I didn't want to be "those" people on the plane, but when he gets like that nothing calms him down.
My anxiety was through the roof.
I think I probably aged 10 years worrying about this trip.
Well Wednesday finally arrived and Jake was not napping well.
Great, we were going to start off with a tired boy.
Ryan came home from work and we quickly loaded up and started the drive to Madison (they have a direct flight to Salt Lake City there so it was worth the 1.5 hour drive)
Jake screamed for the first 20 minutes of the drive.
My nightmare had come true.
He finally wore himself out enough for a catnap in the car.
While waiting in line for security he had another melt down.
I'm really really really worried at this point.
We finally board the plane and he is a little fussy.
I feed him during take off to help his ears adjust and he calms down.
He relaxes enough to take another catnap in my arms.
CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!
After that is was pretty content for the rest of the flight which was amazing considering it was bedtime.
We landed in Salt Lake and he did great in the car on the drive to Ryan's house.
He even squeezed in another catnap.
Now the true miracle was that night he slept 8 straight hours.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!

THURSDAY
On Thursday (the 4th) we spent the day with Ryan's family.
That afternoon my Grandma, Aunt, Uncle and cousins from St. George were driving through so we got to spend some time with them.
Ryan played basketball with the boys while I caught up with my Aunt and Grandma and introduced them to Jake.
It was wonderful to see them.
That evening Ryan's mom had a BBQ and invited Grandma and Grandpa Calder and his Aunt and Uncle over.
It was great to see them and for Jake to meet everyone he is named after.

That night Ryan and I even got to go see fireworks thanks to our awesome family babysitters!
Oh and Jake slept 10 straight hours.
I think we need to visit Utah more often!

FRIDAY
Friday morning we headed to my family's cabin just east of Oakley.
It was so awesome to be back there and to see all my extended family of my dad's side.
We played horse shoes, ate delicious food, and enjoyed each other's company.
Jake was a hit with Grandpa thanks to Aunt Jenna's tigger outfit!
That evening we went out with Ryan's friends from high school for dinner.
Thanks to our fantastic babysitters!
We also tried to take the Razor's up the canyon but it was pouring rain.
After getting pelted with rain for about 10 minutes we turned back.
Everyone was soaked but it was a fun adventure.

SATURDAY
We spent Saturday at the house with family.
We finally got to have a meal all together despite everyone's work schedules.
We had a 3pm lunch dinner to celebrate Ryan's birthday.
Cafe Rio and poppyseed cake.
YUM!

SUNDAY
We had a big breakfast and then packed up and headed to the airport.
It was a sad day.
We miss living so close to the Calders.

Jake was a trooper.
He slept on the way to the airport and was happy waiting for boarding just people watching.
Then the miracle of all miracles happened.
Jake slept through the entire flight!
He had a hard time driving back to Oak Creek but I sat back with him and we played.

It was such a great trip and we can't wait to visit again soon!
